My parents bought us tickets to go visit New Orleans for Thanksgiving. We had a great (although somewhat tired and cranky) vacation. The first day after we got in we walked over to Tulane to see the campus and my Dad's office. We played soccer with the kids on the green and went to Audubon park. The weather was great and it was so warm. On Thanksgiving we went down to the Riverwalk and walked along the mighty:) Mississippi. We had several frantic searches for a potty. Nothing was open!!! and I got quite a bit of exercise making mad dashes between buildings. Let me just say that Lilly surprised us all with her ability "to hold it" but her mom panicked a bit. Then we walked down to the Cafe du Monde and had hot chocolate and beignets (we had to try them!-- especially since Princess Tiana makes them). Eldon loved them and absolutely fell apart when Aaron snagged one off his plate. We also walked around the Place d'Armes that day and Lilly had a Tinkerbell balloon made for her. Eldon got a sword which he used quite a bit on his Grandma. Eldon said that our Thanksgiving was the best "Thank you party" he'd ever been to. The next few days we rode a steamboat down the Mississippi, went to the aquarium, saw a space IMAX, went to the insectarium, and rode the street cars to the zoo. Lilly was sorely disappointed that we saw "Fly me to the Moon" at the IMAX theater and not "The Princess and the Frog." Eldon loved the street cars. We all really enjoyed the zoo, mainly the Louisiana swamplands exhibit. Lilly was excited to see the gators so close up.
Eldon was spoiled. He got to skip naps and sleep with Grandma and Grandpa each night. He begged every night to sleep with "Lawrence and Kathy." He also got to watch all the Star Wars movies. I told him I thought it was too violent for him and after that he kept telling me I needed to leave the room because he thought it was a little too violent for ME! Grandma also got him a special light saber and a Darth Vader costume.
Lilly got to eat strawberries and oranges by the dozen. She loves fruit. She got to play tea with a new tea set from Grandma and finger paint!
And in the spirit of New Orleans, Aaron and I had an evening to watch "The Strange Case of Benjamin Button" and I ate some seafood gumbo. It was a really nice trip. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa, for putting up with all our craziness and sleep-deprived tantrums:). We are home and hoping to get lots of sleep over the next few days.

Eldon enjoying his beignets.

Lots of powdered sugar!

Lilly playing with her balloon on the Place d'Armes.

Lilly showing Grandpa how to ring a bell from a board game. I just wanted to share this one because of her outfit.:) She picked it out herself! Please note she is almost always in a Princess dress so this is a rare occasion.

Taking a rest on the Place d'Armes.

Wow! You guys did so much! How fun. The kids look liked they loved every minute of being with grandma and grandpa. I am glad you guys made it back safe. I will call you some time this week to sort out New Moon. Did I ever tell you Melissa wants to come with us?
It amazes me, also, how many fun things you did in just a few days! Wow! Eldon and Lilly look so happy and cute in all those photos. So glad your parents got to spoil their beautiful grandbabies. If grandparents can't spoil their grandchildren, who can? Enjoy getting some extra rest at home!
Sounds like you had so mujch fun, thanks for sharing.
That trip sure sounded fun!!! :0)
I'm glad you had a good time. Our trip to Idaho and Utah was fun but also featured a few spots of crankiness. Our sleep went to hell and I'm really really hoping Eddie goes back to sleeping like a normal baby. Oh, how sleep deprived we are. And look at me, staying up till midnight! I better get to sleep pronto.
Sounds like you had tons of fun! Aren't grandparents great?

Wow, what a vaca! My mom pointed out that kids seem to become naughty-er when you're supposed to be doing something fun. ;) LOL.
Hope you're recovering!
